The Best of the Many Wafflers I've Used

I've acquired quite a collection of new and used waffle makers in my quest to find a unit that meets my very demanding needs, and this is the first unit that has ever completely satisfied me. Modern machines offer the convenience of timed baking, superior non-stick grids (that don't rust lke old machines) and warning buzzers, but generally at the expense of lower wattage. At 1750 watts, this is the most powerful unit in my collection. It also has the best non-stick grids, which never require cooking oil, not even the first time. This unit even beat the KitchenAid KPWB100NP Pro Line Waffle Baker, which disappointed me. The Wafflepro M850 is the most versatile unit I've ever used.

Just look at this old-fashioned Belgian waffler and you can smell the aroma of crisp browned waffles awash in berries and whipped cream or running with melted butter and syrup--surely it's a trick of the memory. Making four of those deep-pocketed beauties at once with this waffler is no trick, though. Simply preheat the cast-aluminum waffler on a gas or electric stovetop: first one side, then the other. Pour in your batter, close the waffler, and cook for 30 seconds; then flip the waffler over and cook two to three minutes more. The waffler is 8-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches and has stay-cool plastic handles. It needs to be hand washed in soapy water. --Fred Brack

The Only Non-electric Waffle Iron You'll Ever Need

I purchased this waffle iron four years ago.

And, I went through quite a few batches of waffle batter until I could heat the iron on the stove properly.

But, after a while I was making the tastiest waffles on the block.

Once I got the hang of using this waffler, I got rid of my electric
waffle iron!

So far works fine.

I purchased this on my brother's advise, rather than other reviews, because he owns one too. I figured for the price, it would be worth the risk. So far, it works fine. I haven't had any sticking issues or flaking off of coating yet. I was sure to season the iron properly with crisco before I used it, so maybe this helps. The only trick I use when cooking is I pour the batter into the top half of the iron, close it and wait about 5 seconds, and then flip the machine over the correct way for the rest of the cooking time of about 3 mins. The waffles always come out great. Without flipping, they dont seem to rise that much but it could be the batter I used. I also use more batter than the recipe calls for. I pour enough to just cover the whole cooking area before I close it. There are 5 in our family and this iron is a good size. It cooks 4 waffles in about 3 mins. I also like the way it stores up on end for more counter space. So if you don't mind flipping the machine over when cooking, I think it works great!.See all 9 customer reviews...

It's easy to find variations on the web, but the basics are 2 cups biscuit mix (like Bisquick brand), 1 egg, 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and 1 1/3 cups of club soda. Be careful to not stir all the gas out of the soda when combining the ingredients.
